Established in June 2004 Flying Test Systems Ltd (FTSL) was created as a result of a Management Buy Out of SPEA UK Ltd., which had been the UK subsidiary of SPEA SpA (a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of Automatic Test Equipment) since 1987. Nigel Priest, FTSL Managing Director, recognised the need to create a flexible and adaptive company that could continue to meet the ever changing needs of clients within the UK and Ireland, providing test services through to turn-key test implementations, consultancy through to the management of field returns using both internal expertise and a network of specially selected external partner providers.

Originally, FTSL was just the sole distributor in the UK and Ireland for SPEA SpA products. However, in 2006 FTSL widened it's portfolio becoming the sole distributor for the MPT product range from Cabletest Systems Inc. and is committed to seeking out additional best in class products in the field of electronic and electrical test to enhance it's portfolio and extend it's offering to an already diverse client base.
