In-circuit test proves a board was built to its design — the right parts, the right values, in the right places. Functional test answers the question that follows: does the assembly actually do what it was designed to do?

Functional test provides end-to-end verification that your PCB or assembly performs exactly as designed. From stimulus-response testing through to full system simulation, it exercises the product the way the world will, so real-world performance is proven before it ships rather than discovered afterwards.

Every product is different, so functional test is rarely something you buy off a shelf. We develop bespoke solutions around your assembly, using FTSL-developed LabView techniques and hardware, scaled to suit a bench-top setup or an integrated production stage.

Functional test is also where faults that structural test cannot reach get caught — behaviour that only emerges once the assembly is running as a whole, rather than measured component by component.
