High Mix Is the Hard Part

Whether you manufacture your own PCBs in-house or work as a Contract Manufacturer, low to medium volume with a high mix of products puts a particular kind of pressure on test. It is not throughput that hurts. It is changeover, and the cost of covering many different boards well.

At lower volumes the sums behind test change. A dedicated fixture that pays for itself over hundreds of thousands of boards is much harder to justify across a short batch, and harder still when the next batch is a different product entirely. So your test solution has to be flexible, versatile, scalable and cost effective at the same time — and stay that way as the mix shifts.

Balancing that is challenging, and it is rarely cheap. What we can offer is that most of it we have seen before.
